Hi! Welcome back to my blog.
Today, I'm going to take you on a virtual trip to one of Japan’s most iconic symbols – Mount Fuji (also known as "Fujisan"). π»
Towering at 3,776 meters, Mount Fuji is the tallest mountain in Japan and one of the most admired peaks in the world. This majestic stratovolcano is not just a natural wonder, but also a sacred cultural icon deeply rooted in Japanese art, spirituality, and tradition.
π Location & Access:
Mount Fuji is located west of the Kanto Plain, near the midpoint of Japan. It’s easily accessible from major cities like Tokyo and Yokohama. The Fuji Five Lakes region (Fujigoko) lies to the north, offering scenic resorts, hot springs, and countless outdoor adventures.
1. ⛩️ Visit the Fuji Sengen Shrines
Shinto is Japan’s native religion, and Sengen shrines are dedicated to the mountain’s guardian deity. There are over 1,300 Fuji Sengen shrines across Japan!
-
The head shrine, Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha, is located in Fujinomiya City, southwest of Mount Fuji.
-
The Fujiyoshida Sengen Shrine, at the northern base, is the traditional starting point for the Yoshida Trail.
-
Arakura Sengen Shrine, famous for the Chureito Pagoda, offers one of the most iconic views of Mt. Fuji, especially during cherry blossom or autumn foliage seasons.
